Way back when....

Last Friday, the kids and I had a play date with the Haughenbury family at Heartland Acres up in Independence. It is a fairly new facility and we had never been there. What it is is a set up of what life used to be like way back when, early 1900's and maybe even before. They had farm animals and many new baby animals had been born this spring: baby pigs, sheep, ducks, baby pheasants, and a baby calf. Then, they also had old cars, wagons, and tractors (of course), set up of an old schoolhouse, and many other rooms set up to show how people used to live. Of course, the kids were curious where the TVs were. It was very interesting. The kids favorite part was seeing the baby animals and getting to milk a cow. It wasn't real, but it will probably be the closest any of them will ever get to milking a cow.
