In August, the kids and I had the chance to make a quick trip out to Colorado to see my sister Kristi and her family and my mom got to ride alone!! They relocated to Denver last spring and we had been toying with the idea of trying to get out there to see them and we finally did. The kids were so excited to get to go to Colorado and see the mountains, and of course to spend time with their cousins. We definately squeezed a lot into the 5 days we were out there. With a 12 hour drive each way, the kids were troopers and did a great job with the trip.
On one of the days, we visited a candy factory in Denver. Anyone who knows me knows I still LOVE candy and I have passed this down to my kids. We got to tour the factory and then get some yummy goodies in the candy shop!
We did lots of swimming at the pool Kristi has in her neighborhood. Splish Splash!
One big day was we got to visit the Denver Zoo. It is a HUGE zoo and the animals were amazing. Jaden was so excited to finally get to see a polar bear and penguins in real life. Skylar loved the giraffes and Cael was excited about the monkeys. We were pretty tired at the end of the day, but worth it!
Lunch time!!
Waiting for the train.
The kids with a 400+ lb gorilla!!
Love this pic of Cael as he pretends it is biting his head.
How big a polar bear is compared to us. We look pretty small!!
We headed up to Estes Park another day and took the tram up to the top of the mountain. The tram made me VERY nervous and I do not like heights, but I knew it would be totally worth it once we got to the top. At the top, we were able to walk around and stay up there as long as we wanted. The views were amazing!
We can't wait to return and visit them again, but hopefully the mts will have some snow on them so we can teach the kids how to really ski!!
