Shake, Shake, the Apple Tree

Last Wednesday, I took full advantage of a beautiful fall day and an early day out from school to take the kids down to Wilsons Apple Orchard in IC. It was such a beautiful and relaxing day! It was actually our first trip to an apple orchard. I have always wanted to take the kids to one in the fall, just never got around to it until now.

We started the afternoon off with a tractor ride. The owner, Mr. Wilson, took us all around the orchard. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. We went over the river (ok, creek) and into the orchard, where he explained how they get all the different types of apples to grow. There were hundreds and hundreds of trees out there! Then, we headed into a wooded spot, where he showed the kids a really big, old tree and said that was where the real Robin Hood lived. AMAZING! Then, back around the orchard again.

Here, buckets in hand, we are off to pick apples!!
Cael spotting an apple and just waiting for me lift him up to get it!!
Check it out! Yummy!
Jaden is reaching up high to grab a good one!
The perfect apple!
I spy with my little eye an...... apple!
We just couldn't resist, had to have a couple apples while out there. They were soooo fresh and delicious and juicy!
Look at these fabulous apples!! We got 3 buckets like this, which totaled up to 10 lbs of apples at the end of the day!!
At the end of the day, took a break to relax in the warm sunshine.
We had so much fun at the orchard. The only thing that was missing that day was Tad, wish he wouldn't of had to work. Maybe next year he can go with us.

Last weekend, we made an 'Apple Crumb Pie', which was so good it lasted only 2 days! This weekend we are going to make some Apple Crisp and maybe some homemade Applesauce.
